1974 911 color choice list...data base
Is there a data base or list of the colors available for a 1974 911? I'm wondering about colors vs. numbers made that way. I'm also interested in seeing an example of 'Champagne Beige'. A friend of mine says she has a champagne beige 911 with all black interior and that she thinks it is one of the only ones with an all black interior since most all of them came two tone...any help on this would be appreciated. She's wondering what her car is worth not running and is hoping her car is unique enough to garner some extra value...

I found this for a list of available colors and I don't see her 'Champagne Beige' on it. She describes it as a beige car that's kind of yellowish. Seems like she's describing the 'Sahara/Desert Beige' color found on this chart...

I don't believe there are any resources that know how many of a particular color were made.

My '74 was originally Gazelle Metallic, but that color was far lighter than it appears on the chart you posted. Where there are remnants of that original color, people think it is a pale gold, so possibly it could be confused with Champagne Beige.
Or, maybe her car was a paint-to-sample unit. Does she have data from PCNA to support that color name? |
I think I'll ask her to check the paint code on her driver door plate. That should answer all the riddles here. She's the original owner but I don't think she's up on her stats for her car. It has been 41 years since she got it...the only other thing I can think of is that it was an insurance replacement for the earlier P car that was totaled in an accident so perhaps she had it painted the same color as the one she wrecked. Champagne Yellow? er??? I'm gonna see her tomorrow so I'll ask her to just look at the paint code...done.

Good luck with that, Jamie. When a PO repainted my car the paint code plate vanished, so now I think I have a Porsche color, but who knows? That's why I mentioned PCNA data. A repaint that changes the color often does not have updated code attached.
The individual does not remember if this is the original car? |
