Can the factory alarm be removed (Not just bypassed)?

Be trying to figure out a no start problem. Traced it to the alarm (I think). I removed the alarm module and found a broken/ Burnt connection between two of the solder joints. One end connects to one of the two relays/ switches on the board.

Can the car run without the factory alarm? If so what rewiring do I need to do?

I would like to remove the module and all. Or is my only choice(s) 1. Buy a new alarm module or 2. re-solder the connection?

Any thoughts or leads would be helpful. My car has been down for 4 weeks now.

Thanks

Jeff:

I would be willing to bet that once the black wire from the DME relay is connected to the fuse box, as I suggested to you earlier, the car will run.

If it doesn't run disconnect the lead from the Alternator to the module and see what happens.

If neither work, do the bridge thing.

Marc, Thanks for jogging my memory on your previous post. Re-read it and will try connecting the black wire to fuse 8 turn signal. Will it be ok to leave it there if it does fix the problem? Should I use an inline fuse or install a relay?

Sorry if these seem like stupid questions. I am a novice at electrical problems.

Jeff:

There are no stupid questions! Stupid is not asking because more likely than not someone on this board will know the answer.

You don't need to do anything. The wire comes from the DME relay socket and is not required to carry high amps, hence the lower fuse rating on number 8.

If your alternator light goes on when you try this, then disconnect the lead from the Alt and make sure it dosen't ground.

Let me know what happens.
