Alarm system...any thoughts

Hello all, I am presently trying to get my turbo look back to stock, I have an alarm point on the lower dash, it is redundant, but, would you know if it was a porsche fitted item or after market, the car is using a different system now.
Also, how difficult is it to remove the section of dash shown with the alarm point/ ignition on it ?
Thanks

if you have an aftermarket car alarm and it is wired into the start circuit, remove it.
the start circuit for the 911 is already very stressed due to the length of the yellow wire and already going thru several connectors. all this reduces the current to the starter.
then add in most likely a poorly installed system and you are just asking for it not to start when you least want it to.
if the yellow wire has been cut, solder it back togther with heat shrink tubing over it, not tape.
leave the alarm for the bells and whistles.

That is not where the factory put the alarm switch. That trim piece is glued to the front of the dash sheet metal. Removing it requires that you first remove everything attached to it, or through it. You may have to also remove the trim around the steering wheel column. There were a number of different version of this piece of trim and they may be NLA from Porsche.
