Wheels for 71E Targa

Hey guys/gals!!

Finally getting ready to start working on a project I have had for many years.

I have started to start on it several times, but something always came up.
But now, all other distractions are completed, or mostly completed, and its time to start cutting!

The wheels that came with the car are 14x6" fuchs dated late '69.
The COA does not list "comfort package" or "alloy wheels" so I am not sure what wheels would have come with her.
Since the production complete date is 01.12.1970, could the late 14" '69 wheels be correct?

Quite likely.

They could also have been a dealer installation. The car may have been equipped with steelies and perhaps in order to sell the car (or by a buyers request) they installed Fuchs.

Looks like it has a similarly colored stablemate - very nice!

The standard Fuchs for the E was 14x6.
In the day, stock, gave the E the near same acceleration standards as the S cars because of the ratio change for the 14 inch wheels.

The wheels could be original for a car built on that date. What I find odd is that a '71 was built on that date...

Bruce is right 14x6 were standard on the 70/71 C and D series cars. I have a RHD 70 series car built in Nov 69. The 2.2 build started in Sept 69. Your car should also have S front calipers, aluminium engine lid and no.plate panel.

Bruce is right 14x6 wheels were standard on C and D seies 911E's. I have a 1970 C series 911E coupe with the build date Nov 1969. The 2.2 build date started Sept 1969 for the C seies and Sept 1970 for the D series both of which have the 2.2 litre engines. Your car should also have S front calipers and aluminum engine lid and no. plate panel.

I believe this car would have originally been delivered on cookie cutters but would have to double check.

Actually the 14" Fuchs are 5 1/2" wide, not 6" as previously posted. The COAs are not all that complete back in the days, so I wouldn't pay too much attention to it.

Enjoy your project!

Sorry. You are correct. Cookies were introduced in '73, not '71. I did say I would need to double check. Memory isn't what it used to be.

The Comfort Package hood was made of steel, however it is unique because it has two (2) courtesy lights instead of one!!
The rest of the package was 14" Fuchs, "S" instruments and a five speed transmission.
