Help with a lean cylinder

Cylinder three on my 91 964 3.6 in the 74 911 with PMO 50 carbs had half the flow as measured with a unisyn of the other cylinders. When I removed the carbs, I found the plastic spacer collapsed on one side and evidence of a significant intake leak. The cylinder had a constant ticking. Could this have been the cause of the ticking or could a cylinder problem have caused the collapsed (melted?) plastic spacer? The intake valve and spark plug look fine. It ran fine for about 500 miles and I blamed a friend for the ticking as it started after he drove the car. Any suggestions/ideas?
