Attaching Rear Valance to 1978SC
My 78 Targa project car came without a rear valance. I now have one but cannot figure out how to install it, in spite of searching this forum and studying the PET.
My valance has holes for bolts as it should, and I have purchased the correct bolts and washers. The problem is my bumper has short broken-off threaded pieces on the bottom where the holes(?) should be and is smooth on the inside (no bolt heads or nuts). The PET shows the need for bolts but does not show (I don't think) where they bolt to. Do I have a correct SC bumper? Are the holes in the bumper supposed to be threaded? Do I need to drill out these broken pieces from the bumper and use nuts or speed nuts to secure the valance? This should be stupid easy, yet I am stumped. Thanks for any advice.

Yes, the holes in the bumper are threaded, at least on my SC. There are 8 total.
It sounds like a PO broke the bolts off at some point. I would drill out the holes and use the hardware you have.

Thanks Wayne, that makes sense.
The original bolts must have been threaded just flush with the inside of the bumper as I can not feel a protrusion or an indention in any of them. I'll use a bit of PB blaster and then put a vise grip on the broken off pieces and see if I can remove them before I try to drill them out and re-tap.
