I need seats for a 1966 912 / 911 r gruppe style

HI,
I have a 1966 912 / 911 that I need to put seats in, looking for something like the older porsche sport style, or any other bucket seats (cheap). Does anybody know where I can pick up a pair of these for a good price in the Los Angeles area? Also a sport type steering wheel...

I am not sure if they are located in the LA area but if you search my posts you will find that I too was in the market for my 66 and there is a company that makes reproductions. I am not sure which models fit on the stock seat rails but you could call them to find that out easily.

Not sure what your looking for, stock or aftermarket, but Corbeau makes some pretty nice old school rally looking seats at a good price.

I ran the Corbeau Classic IIs in my car until I got Scheel buckets. They were great seats for the price (approx $500 for seats and rails) and looked period correct.

Bob - did the rails bolt up to the stock floor pan or did the seat work with the stock floor rails?

I wonder how much it would cost for me to buy the seats and have them converted to tan?

Seats/rails bolted up without modifications.

Not sure about custom materials but a friend also ordered the same seats then later bought extra matching bolster material to have the headrests recovered locally.

The seats are now in a friends LWB targa and he seems happy with them.

+1 on Corbeau Classics. I had those seats in a Cobra replica and they were very comfy with good support. I did many multi-day trips with no problems.

That said, depending on how much Uncle Sam steals from my employee incentive plan check tomorrow, I may order a pair of GTS Sebring seats. I ordered some 5-point harnesses yesterday. I gotta do something...sitting on the 42 year old seats in there now is like riding one of those playground ponies on a spring.

Rich, why the GTS when the Corbeau are half the price and bolt up to the stock floor so you have full adjustment? I am totally drawn to that feature more than anything! Would two black front seats look foolish in my tan interior? I am really into the fact that my 66 has the more rare tan interior but I too want better seats than the stock mattress's.

I'm going to do what I can to revitalize the economy, plus I like the look of the GTS seats more than the Corbeaus.

Black seats in a tan interior...tough call. Could work though.

Oh the GTS are USA made? If thats the case as will I. Where are Corbeaus made?

I hope people make the right decision when voting to help revitalize (actually restart) the economy.

HI,
Looking into the Corbeau Classic...Bob mentioned that the seats / rails bolt up without modifications...for my 66 912, would that mean the stock rails will bolt up to the Corbeau seats without modifications, or do I need to buy new rails from Corbeau...?

You need to buy their adapters. Corbeaus come with 4 threaded mounting holes in the bottom of the seat.

I ordered my GTS seats this morning. I opted for the Nurburgring seats over the Sebrings. Delivery is scheduled for mid-April. Rats, the stock seats don't really lend themselves to 5-point harnesses. At least I won't be thrown clear.

The GTS web site says the seats are made in Germany & the US. As far as buying new seats for my 911 helping revitalize the economy...well...

seats

Hi All, and thank you for your kind remarks.
Except 2 models all of our seats are made here in Texas. We are looking to make these 2 here as well, but as always manufacturing and details......
I am waiting on my reproduction tilting brackets now a year, never was right, maybe now after the final approval I will be getting them ,
Have now also the original recaro adjustable brackets in reproduction and should have them by next month and as our other brackets they mount right to the original mounting points- so except the Nurburgring you have a bolt in solution for 356 to 84's 911- some minor adjustment are sometimes required ( enlarging holes in the sliders)

I should be getting my pair of Sebring seats next week. I am getting black seats as my interior is black. Im sure that you can get any color you want though. They cost more than the Corbeaus but I have heard nothing but good things about Stefan at GTS, and he was very helpfull with me on the phone.

I originally wanted the ST seat, but Stefan said it would probably be to tight a fit for me. Thats the kind of info I need as Im not able to try the seats out before hand.
