Valve Cover Clipped Corner?
So I've got the car on stands to prepare the winter project list. As I'm reviewing the numerous oil leaks and their sources I check the valve covers. The drivers side lower cover has the corner cut or ground off. Is this intentional? There are no valve cover oil leaks and lower gaskets look clean and green. What do you think?

Do a search and read some old posts.
I seem to remeber something about a certain model having to do that, maybe the sportmatic, I think it had a pump that was sort of close. Jeff 911T |

If your oil lines are not installed properly, the corner of the valve cover gets in the way. The solution is to move the oil line slightly - not machine the valve cover. I'm not sure about the Sporto problem though...

There's plenty of clearance from the oil line. It's an '84 Cabriolet. The wierd thing is the cover and gasket edge are as clean as can be. I can't get a good picture to see it but it looks like it was ground down about 1/2". Should I worry about replacing the cover?

Hello
Turbo valvecovers have 50% dished fins at the driverside. Grüsse |
