70E to 75S suspension swap?

ok, i bought the front suspension out of a 75 S for 200 to replace my self leveling suspension in my 70E, which struts does the 75 S suspension accept?

Any struts you like. I'd suggest the Boge from an SC or Carrera. The Boge will accept inserts from Koni, Bilstein, or Boge. The SC and Carrera have the wider caliper bolt spacing so you can fit bigger brakes.

He's already got the struts. I think he is asking what type of inserts he can put in.

Duc, you need to determine what kind of struts you have. Boge, Bilstein (I don't think konis where available on the 75?). Boge was the most common. You can get bilstein or konis inserts to go in boge struts.
If you've got bilstein struts, you can get bilstein or koni inserts.

Yes, the wide spacing of the SC and Carrera are correct for the aluminum S calipers.

So which is it? Are you asking about just inserts? Or the whole strut assemblies?

Truechoice will modify your bilstein struts, when they are done you will have 6 way adjustable koni inserts in your stock or RSR struts

Its way cool

Cool

Some 911E cross members will accept the torsion bar socket/adjusting pieces. If your's won't it will need to be replaced.

The "S" brake package included a larger sized front caliper. The mounting bolt holes on the ears of the uprights were 3.5" apart center to center.

Good luck,
David Duffield

I am not sure, but I think my struts are converted Hydrypneumatic's, to accept shock inserts. I have seen this referenced in Pano many moons ago, but don't have the specifics. I haven't dug around too much, but how exactly can I tell? If I still have the hydro's, will I also have the height adjust bolts etc at the end of the a-arm? Anyways, if I need to replace my struts, I have S brakes so will have to get S struts or later struts for a-calipers, correct? Last, if I go to a later set up (SC/Carrera) can I still mount through the bady sway bars?
thanks

i already have the actual suspension cross member sway bar ect. off a 75 911, i need struts for this suspension, the owner said they were boge with the m caliper so i think the struts from the late sc/carrera will work and provide the proper bolt spacing for the S calipers

Yes, it will work. SC and Carrera all had the wide bolt spacing for the caliper. This is the same as the early S aluminum calipers.

Chris,

If there is a rubber bellows at the top as is in the pic below, then you still have the Vukolian hydropneumatic struts in place!

The second shot below shows the factory conversion kit.

Chuck, where/who is the source of Koni inserts for Bilstein struts? I know Koni used to make inserts for Bilstein struts (even have their part numbers), but Koni tells me they are no longer available. Thanks.

Bob, my information may be out of date. If koni says NLA then I'm sure that is correct.

Yes. We're talking about actual struts, right? Not shock absorber inserts?

BTW, I posted to your suspension pan thread but it fell off the front page. We're probably putting in a suspension pan in my new car next weekend. I got another '72T. I'm prepping the tub now. It's RUSTY!!!

All of the 69-89 struts will work with your suspension. You may need different ball joints if you use early struts. S, SC & Carrera struts will work with any of the calipers in that group, but not with T struts or some 2.7 car struts. We usually get $500 for a set of SC or Carrera struts. I think I have one set of Boge left. I have seen some cars come in w torsion bars and rubber bellows. Not sure where the owner got them.
