LED License Plate Bolt Light Wiring Question

78 SC. I am feeling stupid but cannot figure out how to wire up the LED license plate bolt lights I bought. I have two sets of two wires coming from each side that used to attach to the OEM license plate lights. The LED kit has a black and a red wire. I thought I would just attach the black and the red to the two wires that used to go to the old light and that would be it -- but no.

Can anyone help me on this one?

Here is a pic.

LEDs are polarized so they only work if you connect the positive to the positive and negative to negative. Use a voltmeter to find which is which, or just try to reverse your connections and see if the light comes on. Most likely the red lead is the positive and the black one is the negative in your setup.

I have the same lights, and when I was test installing them, I just reversed the connection until they lit. You could obviously use a volt meter, but that meant crawling out from under the car.
