Factory service manual question
 

They seem to skip over the 1980sc in the manual for a lot of stuff, is this because a 1980 is the same as a 1979 sc for the most part or because it's more like a 1981??? New to porsche so please excuse if I seem stupid.Thanks

for the most parts, 78-83 are pretty much the same...

When you go to the PET you can see 79, 80, 81 specific parts... but all those years should be fine with the same workshop manual

It's more like an 81 given the Lambda system for US cars.

81-83 are nearly identical. 80 has a slightly different lambda box and fuel control pressures are a little different.

Search under advanced search for CIS Primer. If you find the cross reference section it tells you the Bosch numbers for the Lambda and CIS components.

78/79 US did not have Lambda.

That is a good point.

The Euro SC was more static. Believe the same CIS stuff was used across the board 78-83. Better breathing car, premium fuel.

Probably meeting emissions standards in the US using the K-Jet with Lambda did not warrant a change in the catalog.

Also, the 911 was "on it's way out" in late 70's early 80's so the mind set may have been different regarding the catalog and factory manual.

The fuel control pressure specs are identified specific to the 1980. Not sure you need much else save part numbers if you have to replace a component.

I was mainly concerned which wiring schematics because they seem to skip 80 for the most part with just a short page or so. Thanks for the info guys I'm sure it will come easier when I read through the entire factory manual. Also is there a original parts manual still available??

Lambda wiring is the only addition to the '78 wiring for 1980.

2-4 pages in black and white added to the manual.
That's it. No other differences.
