Turn signals stopped working?

I searched the archives and determined that this problem is strange.
Today my turn signals stopped working all together. Not even the dask indicators light up. It's not the situation were one side works and the other does not. I haven't had the opportunity to fully inspect so I am looking for suggestions of where to begin looking. I checked the fuses and they are fine. The hazard flashers also work properly, however, there is not indiciation from the dash that the hazards are opperating.
I'm thinking it may be a relay but it seems as if the dash lights would at least light up. The driving lights work fine. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

There are several possibilities. Most likely your turn signal/high beam switch is bad. They apparently go bad all the time. I replaced mine and it fixed the problem. But a few weeks later I got an intermittent short in my right front turn signal. I haven't isolated it yet. I was thinking the relay, but I thought that would affect both sides -- not just the right. If your flashers work, then it's probably not the relay, as it controls the lights, which I believe are one and the same (hazards and blinkers). It's also very common for the bulb terminals to get corroded and cause a bad contact -- a wire brush is all you need there. I guess, if your fuses and bulbs are fine, you're not looking for a short. The switch is likely the culprit.

Richard is on the money with that sentiment-- it is a fairly common failure of the switch that controls high/low beam and turns signals.

In my case the high beams don't work, but the turn signals do-- as long as the hazard light switch is depressed! (Hazard lights do not work but actuate the sinals some how...)

Made troubleshooting interesting until I realized the interaction.

Have you checked your turn signal fluid? Sometimes when the muffler bearings wear out, they overheat and boil off the fluid from the resevoir..

Har har... SOrry, couldn't resist!

Question

Another similar problem with a slight twist. My turn signals work fine. With engine off, ignition off, key out of ignition, the turn signal/high beam stalk should turn on the right or left parking lights, respectively. My right side works, ie turn signal/hi beam stalk pushed up-->right side parking lights on, as should be.
Problem: with turn signal/hi beam stalk pushed down, ALL parking lights on. (Should be just the left or drivers side parking lights on).
Any ideas? Is it the turn signal/hi beam switch failing?
thanks
mike

My high beam switch didn't work anyways so i ordered a new switch from Darren this mornig. It needs relacing anyways, so I don't have anything to lose.

By the way, I checked the turn signal fluid and it was a quart low. The muffler bearing wa replaced when I had my PCV full roll cage installed.

Thanks for the help.
