Intro & a few ??
Been lurking for the last year and finally picked up my first Porsche last Fall.
1984 911 Carrera http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1426358060.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1426358088.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1426358266.jpg Question #1: Any idea what roll bar was mounted using these fasteners? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1426358394.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1426358435.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1426358464.jpg Question #2: What was mounted here? Factory amp? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1426358551.jpg Question #3: Is this a factory shift coupler? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1426358620.jpg Thanks! |
#3 - yes
|
#1 looks like a roll bar, perhaps?
|
Nice ride! Congrats.
Is there a filter in that airbox?? |
#2, that is not OEM.
+1 make sure you put the air filter back on. That is a nice Turbo Carrera Tail, very rare :D Welcome Aboard 3.2 |
Can you tell us about those jackstand blocks?
How did you get the car that high? Is that high enough for a engine drop? |
I am surprised it took 5 posts before someone asked about the 911 book shelve lift... Not to mention all the wood precariously hanging over the car. It looks solid and secure with the cement blocks in there, but how did you get it up there?? I must admit, when you think about it, this is much more secure than Jack stands. The hell with the introduction, start another thread and explain the Book Shelve Lift Kit. Height / size of blocks.. clearance height bumper to ground... What Jack and method do you use to get it up there.

Missing air filter? Don't worry, I don't run without it. I removed it during my AC delete and it will be replaced.
Homemade jack stands? The load is carried by one 8" concrete block and one 4" solid concrete block. The wood gives me another 1.5" of lift and serve as roll preventers. I builtit these when I was working on my previous project, a 1960 Ford Starliner. That thing weighed twice what the 911 weighs so I have no fear about their strength. I use a floor jack with the jack pads and some wooden blocks to lift it in stages to get it this high. Wheel center lines are at 24.5", front rocker 19" rear rocker 20", rear bumper 23" at center. Not sure that is high enough for an engine drop. Roll Bar mounts? I was hoping someone might be able to tell who made the bar that was previously mounted in the car. |
Simple and brilliant DIY stands! I'm making a set this weekend.
If #2 is for an amp, it's definitely aftermarket. If #3 was for a rollbar, I would expect to see more wear & tear on the surrounding vinyl. Beautiful car! |
