What's happening?

I mean, it's just past 8:00 PM, Pacific Daylight time, and I'm one of the few still logged on here. I'll admit to being an old goat, and we're supposed to stay home on Saturday nights. But, what excuse do the rest of you have? Better yet...I hope the other guys, plus Sarah, tell us later where they were, and what they were doing about now. I know this is living vicariously, but it's better than no living at all...

PWD72, funny, I was just thinking the same thing. You know, it would be nice to schedule a regular chat or something on saturdays since our host has that feature, and it never seems to get used.

Anyway, I'm here!

Chuck!

When I was young, I went out and partied all the time. Now, I wish I wanted to go out and party, but I don't. It seems like having fun is too much work.

I just got back from a couple hour spirited drive.. so I'm not completely lifeless.. Perhaps I need to go out for round 2?

let's see, the wife is at work finishing up some motion, I just tucked my 5 year old into bed after snuggle time on the couch, and I'm watching the amazing Angels do the comeback thing while the Sudafed works on my head cold.

And I get to spend the next three days making sure our portion of the Internet2 conference performance event doesn't crash and burn.

Geez, are people still talking about I2? That's been going nowhere for what, 5 years?

Not sure about going nowhere (they do have fat 10Gb pipes), but it perhaps isn't ready for prime time. Here's what we're involved in (providing camera crews for performance and documentation):

I was there today for our crew's load-in. The tech seems under control (tomorrow everything gets tied in), but I think dress will be "interesting".

I just came in from building surfboards all day. Got the first one glassed, ready to route a slot for the fin box, then hot coat. On the second board (which will be my personal board) I have the crust planed off the deck and bottom, entry rocker roughed in, and started working on the tail. Tomorrow I do the rails and create some sort of foil plan, then maybe glass on Monday.

Here's a shot of the deck layup - it came out just about perfect. I'm using a UV-cured resin instead of the old-school catalysed resin. You lay it up indoors, then either take it outside in the sun to cure it, or use UV lamps. I was skeptical at first, but this stuff is da bomb. Because it doesn't go off until it gets UV, you have almost infinite working time. I spent 25 minutes laying up the bottom, and a full 45 minutes laying up the 2 deck layers in one go. I could work at a leisurely pace and wet out the cloth perfectly, then when I was ready, open the garage door and set it outside. It then cures in about 10 minutes, if that.

We had friends over for dinner and conversation; they just left. Before that I was helping the Qwest technician repair the cable (out in the rain) bringing the phone lines into my house. Just before that I dug out some paint (Wurth Rust Guard Black) for a friend doing a restoration of a Pantera. Before that more "get house ready for winter"chores: light furnace, reprogram set back thermostat, etc. Now I'm watching news and checking out the board.
No Porsche work today, but I'm about ready to tackle a pedal cluster rebuild. Drove the '76 to work yesterday; great fall day for driving! Raining heavily here today but up higher the ski areas are getting snow. Jim

I just came home from a $100/plate auction dinner (freebie) and am putting an offer on a new house tomorrow (not a freebie). Life is busy, but I still have time for this board.

Drove to cabin....went shopping for a couch while en route...found nothing I liked...went to dinner....put kids to bed.....watched the Huskies lose and the Cougs win....(what kind of world is that????? wife's a Coug....)

Now digging through old Upfixin's looking for info on replacing the window fuzz strip on the outside portion of the door...bottom edge....I think I need to take the whole window assembly out to do this....not fun.

Going to post the question.......

I'm at work . That's my excuse. Sometimes we get to go to parties and or traffic acidents, and scrap drunk people off the ground or pavement., on Friday and Sturday nights.

Sitting around hoping that the UPS man is going to make that miraculous late Sat. night delivery of my front 21mm Sander's...

Otherwise I would be out in the garage reassembling this:

I'm like Matt, I'm at work (been there since Monday), I get the patients others pick up and put them in my CT scan to diagnose how much they broke themselves.
Doesn't prevent my daily checks on what's up here.

Makaio, you can appreciate this. I blew leaves into a huge pile out in the front of our property this afternoon and torched that puppy a couple of hours ago. You could roast marshmellows from 50 ft. My excitement for the nite.
