Question Dave White?

Anyone have a good recommendation on Dave White (Tampa, FL) for a good wrench? I have heard he has a good national reputation where P-cars are brought to him from all parts of the country for repair.

Thanks for the posts!

Jason,

I have used Dave White for a major mileage tune up. The work was good and the price was as quoted. He seems to really love Porsches. He talked to me about it for like 40 minutes. He showed me around the shop and explained all the work they doing on each car there. (kid in the candy store!!)

He also knew about my car. Maybe he saw as a lot of work in the future!! But, he did seem genuinely interested in bringing my car back. He offered to spend a day or two developing a plan for restoration with projected prices so that I could do it at my pace. He didn't automatically assume that since I had a 911 as a weekend car, that I had unlimited money. That made me feel comfortable.

I know I am projecting a lot from one tune up, but it's just that I liked the guy immediately. He also is very supportive of our local PCA club. Hope this helps, Mark

Mark

You echo what I have heard about this guy - THANKS! Need a valve adjustment and I am burning more oil than I consider normal. Mine is a weekender too and my funds are low for the toy too.

I have used Dave White's since I bought my 911 in 95. Bro and Dad used him for their 944 and two 951's.

Most of the wrenches there have been there for years and they do love the cars and really have the experience as far as what works and does not work.

There was some part on one of the 944's that Dave's shop had found out was wearing out way to fast because Porsche made them from plastic, so he had it made in brass and never fails.

They also have the race division where they race cars and help others prep their cars for racing.

Ditto on the PCA support and they are family owned and operated which I think is a plus as far as customer service and making sure you get what you need done.

Good luck. They are on Hillsborough just after Anderson on the right when heading towards Memorial.

Sorry my bad. Since I bought Wayne's book I have not been down at Dave Whites in a few months. Shawn ( the scheduler for work) no longer works there. Just talk to Dave.
