Source for compatible element for factory heated seats?

My 88 has factory heated driver's seat. I am getting them recovered, and want to change the inop heating elements.

I think I found the back rest element at ECS tuning, but the seat bottom is NLA everywhere.

Had anyone sourced a compatible heating element? Does anyone know the wattage of the OEM element, and whether it is feasible (safe?) to splice OEM connectors to an after market element? Has anyone done it?

Thanks!

It would appear that 964-653-901-00 would be exactly the same as 911-653-901-00 though somewhat pricier...have you tested the continuity separately of both the seat back and center cushion?.. if one burns out, the other wont work.

Thanks for the response -- I have not tested them, assuming they are both bad, and if I am going to recover the seats, I should replace them both.

The fact the 964 part is $300 compared to $180 for the 911 part is galling, though.

The thrifty part of me would like to buy one of the $50-60 carbon heating elements and splice in the Porsche wire connectors, but I don't know enough about the system to determine if this will work.

I am hesitant to induce electrical gremlins into my wiring system that is otherwise working flawlessly...

Come on... what's the worst that could happen ;) (actually, lots of entertaining, but unlikely, ideas come to mind...).

Gotta get together once the wx squares away.

Yeah -- like a lot more than my butt getting warm.

You going to Hershey? We need to take a cruise….

Any update? I'm trying to solve the same problem.

FWIW, I did one of the aftermarket kits in my Honda Pilot. 2 years later, still works fine.

Thanks, what I'm trying to figure out is if I can wire an aftermarket heat pad to the stock switches in my 89 911 with factory heated seats.
