Hello, and Thank You
I have been enjoying this board for the past few months, and haven't said much at all, just soaking up the info. I wanted to say hello and thanks for all the information. I just finished installing a new clutch today, and for some reason everything went perfect. It took about five hours; the longest part by far was the turning of the fly wheel. Against everyone’s advice I did not drop the trans, reverting back to my V.W. days this seemed only natural, thanks Wayne. I used a drive on lift rather than the jack method. I just disconnected the engine and lifted the whole car off the engine, worked great. Threw in new clutch, slapped everything back together, and it works like a dream.
The thing I do regret is the pictures. I had my camera in the car, but I was on such a roll not one shot was taken. I ran across a thread awhile back where some one gave the cars vin number and another person from a crossed the country remembered their car, amazing so I will give it a shot to. My car is a 1968 911 "11835487" that has a 2.0, and what I understand is 2.7 euro jugs, Webers, perma tune, wide steel fenders, tail, and a 901 trans that has lower gears. The engine has a placard from a shop in FL called "Porshop"? Previous owner also told me that is was raced in Ca. prior to its life in Hawaii that would have been in the 80’s I think. If anyone can help it would be appreciated. |

Congrats on the clutch job. 5 hours and no problems is impressive.
Now you'll be the one giving the tips.

For an engine drop, I would reverting back to my V.W. days too. . .especially if I had the minimal intake of a carb'd motor like yours.
For posting pictures, a digital camera is a must. (even a cheapy) Scanning paper photo's is a pain. In fact digital cameras seem to work better even for "scanning" old photos.
