Underside color or not?

We will be painting inside the fenders and we are not sure how far under the car is supposed to be body color. We can do the entire underside because the car is in a rotisserie.

I have paint, clear and rotisserie, should I just paint the whoe underside?
Was this done on the factory? Or should I just do the inner fenders and clear the bottom to keep it from getting dirty?

Any advise is welcome! Paint goes on this Saturday!!

Mine had red everywhere period! Inside the doors included.

I would paint that beauty on the bottom just like the top because you can.

Ivan,

It depends on whether you want it to be original. If nothing else you should put stone guard on the underside before you paint (I can't tell from the photo if it is bare metal). There are very knowledgeable contributors on Paint & Bodyworks forum that will give you an opinion. I guess I would consider that would not be a lot of contrast when looking at the car. Also, the paint will chip and get dirty.

Good luck

Bob

Paint

Pretty sure they can tint most all underbody undercoat or atleast they can with dura liner like a truck bed. A scud missle isn't taking that stuff off. Weight may be a consideration. What will u be doing with the car? If it's a garage queen the answer is easy breezy. Paint it.
I'll follow this one to see how u end up.

Final Result

At first we did the inner fenders only, but after looking at it in person decided to do a full re-spray of the underside. It was done with Glasurit paint and clear (overkill) but as the body man told me, if At some time in the future I want to clean it again I will not spend the amount of time and effort required if the was was left in undercoating only. The clear coat will only require some soap and water and it will be like this again. I think if you have the car at this stage of restoration is not wise for the long term care to leave it in undercoating.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1428854736.jpg

Excellent choice.

Even with road tar deposits, it will clean easily.

Pretty color. Congratulations.
