Bosch 40713 wiper fitment issue

Hello all, I'm running into a major headache on what should be a simple task. My project car(1976 911S) was missing the wipers so I had to buy new wiper arms and blades. I went with the Bosch Micro edge 40713. Everything I read says those should fit.

After trying for literally an hour yesterday I threw my hands up and am now turning to this board.

I found the below link from another member so I'm assuming others have run into this issue. Net Net, it looks like Bosch changed the design of the clip and the recommendation was to use the old clip but I dont have any old blades

Can't install new wipers. Is the Bosch Micro Edge 40713 compatible ?

Anybody know of any work arounds or other brands that fit right?

The 40713 clips definitely do not fit.

The workaround was to reuse the clips from the old wipers.
Unfortunately, you don't have the original set of wipers that fit.

I would try another brand, or look for used wipers?

I just went back to AutoZone to return the bosh blades. I decided to try their Duralast brand to see if the clips work and they did. Bosch really screwed up their clip redesign.

A quality silicone blade won't break down from ozone and UV. Silblade is the best of the crop. (Wayne! You should sell these.)

I put the Silblades on my car over 10 years ago (2002?) and they are still streak free. I swap them from side to side every year or so to keep them from taking on the curve of the resting part of the driver's side window. When you wash the window run the towel down the edge to clean it so it is just raw silicone wiping the glass.

Also use them on the truck and the other cars. The ones on the truck are from 5 years before I bought the truck!

The best you can do with the new clips is pull hard to set the blade into the arm. they seem to stay, so far, but nothing snaps into place.

Just RTFM.

Meaning, we all put things like wiper blades on without reading the instructions, because, well, it's so easy. However, after having trouble with Bosch blades on both the 911 AND the Mazda3, I decided to RTFM.

Bosch now specs a 9mm space within the hook on the wiper blades. Both of my cars were closer to 8mm. Both work fine now that I took a pliers and opened up the hook a bit. Both slide on and click like you expect.

all it took was to...RTFM.

FYI these blades are $14 on Amazon. I'll give them a try.
