What is this CLOTH sleeve in the stock G50 shifter

Oh for goodness sake... I can't remember - or figure out - where and how this cloth piece fits into the G50 shifter. Does it go under the rubber thingy, or on top of it? Does it "glue" in? Is it only to drive people like me nutz?

The thing is number 21 in the parts drawing.

Been a while, but if I recall correctly, part 21 goes under part 22. No glue. I don't know the exact purpose, but when I replaced those parts, the part labeled 22 was falling apart and was very brittle. I remember thinking that the clothe part was probably there to keep the little pieces of the rubber/foam thing from falling into the shifter.

+1 no glue.
maybe it is to keep the leather boot from getting chafed?
The pic shows the rubber band holding up the leather, I think I use it for both the leather and the cloth, but memory is going.
That rubber thingy looks brand spanking new btw.

aualexa2 is correct - I found a picture - if it uploads upside down, don't blame me.
The cloth is under the rubber - you may be able to see the rubber band at the top.

Yep, got it from our host. It was a special order from Germany.

Many thanks! Under the rubber thingy it is! I'll probably use some glue to hold it in place, otherwise it's just going to wad up and do not much of anything.
