Dave...
Don't remember... Have you added the trinary pressure switch? No need to burden the alternator with the fan loads if the engine RPM does, is doing, the trick. Plus extend the life of the cabin heat blower. |

Salvaged parts otherwise. Likely under $500. |

Quote de RNajarian
My system is essentially from a 1983 SC. Salvaged parts from that car were Sanden compressor, rear condenser, a few refrigerant hoses. I got those for free. I needed to buy a new dryer (aftermarket Four Seasons ~$25) I bought a used front condenser off eBay ( ~$100) and a couple used refrigerant hoses off eBay ( ~$75) A few small hardware pieces (A/C O rings, mounting hardware etc.). ~$50 I added a front fan for the condenser with a relay, ~$50 So using salvaged hardware and buying a few missing pieces I spent less than $500. I also bought a vacuum to clear out the system ( ~$100 Harbor Freight) and R134 (at the time $7 per small can) I saved $$$ by having a good compressor, good rear condenser and a pre installed evaporator and Schrader Valve. Of course I spent A LOT of time installing, reinstalling and adjusting the system. I did not need to buy much, my "expense" was a lot of research and labor. Again when hardware fails I will upgrade, but I see no reason to open up a good working system |
