Noob with an 83 SC
Hello everyone. My name is Jose and here is my new (to me) 83 SC:

Im very happy to finally own my childhood hero car. I also have a compulsive urge to turn wrenches hence my purchase of this non-creampuff. Looking forward to getting to know you guys as I embark on this journey. Cheers. |
Very Nice!
Enjoy the madness |
Nice ride. Welcome to the madness.

Very nice Jose. Welcome aboard!

Jose:
Welcome and have fun with your car! It is a real joy to work on these cars yourself...that way you know it is done to your satisfaction. |
Congratulations! You will have a lot of fun driving and plenty of hours of tinkering.
I'd suggest making an initial list of things that should be done on obtaining a "new" old car like this, and pick up a copy of the 101 Projects book. Then start planning and budgeting those coming summer evenings! |
Nice car! I'm over in Costa Mesa wrenching on my SC every Monday..shoot me a PM if you want to hook up!
What are your plans for it? |
Welcome aboard Jose!!
You know the 3rd brake light is actually supposed to be attached to the decklid, right? :) |
Thank you all. Too much downforce on that 3rd brake light as you can tell. :D I glued it back together but I may need to source another one.
I would like to first get it mechanically sorted and just drive drive drive. Cosmetic items will follow later. The current radio has to go too. I have the 101 projects book, which is awesome. Is there a "Stage Zero" list somewhere that lists all items to address for baseline stock performance? I currently have a bunch of boxes on their way to me from Pelican, mostly full of tune up stuff. Valvecover gaskets, feeler gauge tool, oil filter, shocks for both trunk and decklid, jackpad, etc. etc. My previous wrenching experience is kind of limited but I enjoy every minute of it. Ive had a 71 VW bus, a 69 Ghia, a few Toyota trucks, a Mazda Speed3 and my current daily is a 91 Volvo 745 Turbo. I work for Mazda and am around new cars all the time but I find it much more peaceful to get my hands dirty on something with a lot of miles on it. |
Welcome. I like my SC because it has few computers. Easy to work on. This board is indispensable. I couldn't have done most of the things I have on my car without their help!
:D |
You're in the right place! Congrats on the purchase from one owner of a black '83 to another!
|
I just noticed the license plate. I think that is another Pelican's username?
I like those wheels too! |
Congrats, im an SC (1979) newbie too, good to see fellow owners out there, we are all in it together :)
|
Welcome ! I too came from the aircooled Vw world to find my 911 just over a year ago!
Cheers, |
Congrats! The last of the SC's. Great car, have fun.
That's my brand as well. |
