OT- East coast trip
I will be in Washington DC Jan. 10-13 then go to Charlottesville Virginia thru the 19th.
One of my days in DC my wife and I think that a (don't laugh) guided bus tour would be a quick way to see the big stuff. Any one have a suggestion for a tour vendor. Anyone want to make some suggestions on there favorite sights in DC. Randy Jones 1971 911 (Thanks for the space Wayne) |

I've lived in the DC metro area for around 15 years so all the sites are "ho hum" to me, but here is a site that has links for all the DC attractions and some tour companies:
http://www.house.gov/house/tour_dc.html As far as other suggestions...visit Anacostia, it's beautiful at night any time of year ![]() Nathan

Randy...don't have specific D.C. info..but I do bus tours w/bride..can be very efficent and painless..did "Grey Lines" for a week to tour the San Juan Islands, then a week in a rented car..I would check w/travel agents for the big tour names, and then call directly to see if they have a day ride..spend an extra $10 for a high end bus..the big guys have the best/closest parking areas. the best/smartest "tour guides". and have the best contacts w/lunch, etc.. try to sit foreward/sneak on early, to be able to use the big front windshield/makes a difference.. and sneak a big shot of vodka/no odor, for after lunch to keep you still.. your bride will want to hear how great she looks, as you take the pics w/her in them...enjoy..........Ron

Touring DC
Randy,
Lot's of places to go and things to do. Use the Metro to get around, after 9am $5 to travel all day. Wear comfortable shoes/clothes! Call your congressmans' office today to get free tickets to tour FBI and Capital. Both are great! White House is still closed. Many sightseeing tours start at Union Station. Here is a short list-most are free: Smithsonian Castle; Nat'l Gallery of Art; Sackler Gallery; Botanic Gardens; Lincoln Memorial; Nat'l Archives; Jefferson Memorial; Vietnam and Korean Memorials; Nat'l Zoo; Washington Monument; ; Air & Space Museum-IMAX and Planetarium; Chinatown; Hirshorn Museum; Museum of Nat'l History-IMAX; and Museum of Am History. Couple of links: http://www.washington.org http://www.si.edu Have fun! Rock
