Disconnecting signal light assemblies
I'm in the process of doing a bare metal repaint on my 72T (soon to be a Carrera RS-look 72). I wanted to get some ideas on the right way to disconnect the signal light wiring from the lighting assemblies. Is there a proper way to disconnect or do I just cut the wiring and later splice them back together later on?

I haven't done the rears, but in the front, you can unscrew the entire signal light housing and pull it a couple of inches out from the fender. Now look behind the housing. You will see a rectangular piece of plastic where the wires run in. The are two small screws at opposite corners of the plastic that once you remove them allow you to separate the wiring housing from the rest of the assembly.

All of the lamp assembiles have rubber-bodied bulkhead connectors that pull out -- sometimes a bit stubborn, because they are very well sealed, and may have not been apart since factory assembly. An extremely costly and elegant way of wiring major subassemblies, BTW -- so be careful when removing them!

Thanks for your help. I don't know what I'd do without the support of this board.
