Post Turn Signal

This is a small annoyance...
The "tick tock" sound of my turn signals and four way flashers is barely audible at idle, much less when I am driving. I have had the embarressing experience of driving for miles with the turn signal on before I noticed the dashboard flasher (doesn't say much for my peripheral vision). Is this another 911 quirk like our dim dashboard lights? Just wonderng if it is worth buying a new turnsignal relay.

Cool

Tom,
I have the same thing happening, makes me feel like a retired person! I took off the steering wheel to see what I could see, but could not figure it out. There appears to be a small plastic piece that extends out of the right side of the turn signal switch housing when the turn signal is turned on. This small plastic piece extends almost to the edge of where the steering wheel housing edge is. It looks like there should be something to hit or trip this small piece of plastic when the steering wheel returns to center, but I cant see what it is. I will be trying to find out more, will let you know.
Nothing worse than an old guy driving a 911 down the highway for 12 miles with the turn signal on, its shameful!

There should be a black plastic ring attached to the back of the steering wheel with a tab at the nine o'clock position that trips the thing on the turn signal stalk and cancels the signal as soon as you recenter the wheel after making even a fairly slight turn. There are three ways this ring can be mounted--two of them wrong--with the tab also at 2:30 and 4:30, as I remember. For some reason, the one on my wheel was mounted wrong and I had the same problem--no cancelling of the signal. Of course, if the ring isn't there at all, you won't ever get cancellation.

I had this problem on a street/drag car. Back then Radio shack sold a buzzer you could attach to the flasher. It got my attention. Good Luck!
