So your CVs are new or cleaned and greased? And the boots are fine or replaced? If the old bolts don't have their Allen hexes stripped, I'd just reuse them after carefully cleaning out the hex so the key seats fully when torqueing. Same with any washers you may have had - just reuse them.

If you torque the bolts to spec, and after some driving (a track session, 100 miles, something) retorque them (if they don't budge, so much the better), all should be well.

Others have other systems they like, like new bolts every time. So you may get different opinions.

The four bolt CVs usually don't have a problem with the bolts.

As Walt said if the bolts are good reuse them. Make sure that you torque them to spec.

Make sure the serrated washers are there and use new gaskets and you should have no problems.

Thanks guys, axles are totally rebuilt, new boots, greased, gaskets. They are ready to go. I guess I'll reuse the original bolts (71 T) and order new washers, install and torgue to spec.? Thx again

I'll be the voice of dissent....

For the cost, it is worth your time to purchase new bolts and use them as opposed to the old, originals.

I did this on my 66 912 and used all new bolts from here:
McMaster-Carr

good luck in whichever path you choose,
erik.
