Wheel Enhancements anyone?
Any first hand experience or photos of Fuchs that have been refinished by these guys?
My '82 SC is sitting on a chromed set of 16" x 7" and 16" x 8" Fuchs and since it's time for new tires and I'm thinking this might be a good time to consider refinishing them to the original anodized look. Wheel Enhancements is about an hour from me so it's convenient enough to drive them down and avoid shipping costs. Since I'm sure I will get plenty of suggestions to call Harvey Weidman I'll add that I already did that about 6-9 months ago and left a message with his wife...still waiting to hear back. Thanks! |

Probably it might be easiest to drive them down and ask to see some of their work. Then they can also see your wheels to see what shape they're in as well to give you a fair estimate.
I think Weidman is quite backed up with work and has quite long lead times, so may not be in a big hurry to take on an additional backlog of work.

I used them to restore my Fuchs about 6 years ago. They did a great job and at the time I thought the price was good. Seemed like turn around time was about 4 weeks...not bad. I know allot of guys here are sold on weidiman but he is always backed up.

try Al Reed Polishing in santa ana CA, he does tons of porsche wheels and is pretty reasonable.
they are pretty busy so calling isn't the best option. I usually drive down there and show them what i need done.

My car had chrome plated 7's & 9's on it when I bought it. Wheel Enhancements did a great job stripping the chrome and refinishing them, and lent me a set of wheels/tires so the car didn't have to sit on jackstands for 4 or 5 weeks - huge plus. When I was there the first time I talked to a guy whose wheels had been refinished ~10 years earlier and they looked great - really sold me. Wheels are gorgeous and although not an inexpensive process, a very worthwhile investment. Good luck.

Harvey Weidman is the best- no doubt. He has my wheels for my car and I hope to have them back the first week of June. The down side is they do not really use computers as far as I can tell. They are very nice and definitely old school. Sometimes it takes a few calls to get a hold of them. Regardless of the communication issues, their work is perfect.

I have had sets done by WE. They are expensive but they do a fantastic job. I highly recommend having them stripped of the chrome. If you like that look you can have them stripped and polished. Its more work to keep the polished wheels clean and bling. Chrome just pits and wears too easily.
