horn failure

When I'm driving in my car (Porsche 911 carrera 1985 coupe) the horn fails to operate. When I stop, it works well.
I want to check the cable connection, but I can't pull the horn pad of. Is it secured by anything?

Can somebody help me?

Kees.

Your horn operates when you push the pad and the metal actually grounds to the hub. So pull the pad off and take the (1) wire and short it to ground(the hub). If it works consistently, check why the horn pad metal contacts aren't contacting the hub. The pad can be removed simply by pulling straight out while grasping the left anf right side of the pad firmly. If it is stuck, try rotating slightly while pulling. There are no screws holding it on there, it just snaps in place.
