911 coil
I have an 80 sc that is giving me a fit. After replacing chain tensioners and getting the car off jack stands, I have been giving it short test runs. Last sunday I took it for a hop around the block. today I tried to start it and nothing. It cranked fine, with the key on, I could hear the whine from electric box. I sprayed starting fluid in the pop off valve and cranked some more. Removed a spark plug, reattached to plug wire, grounded and has someone turn key on. Car cranked and I could see a spark. I could not get the motor to even burp. Someone suggested the coil had died. Any way to check to see if coil is good? I don't want to purchase a new coil unless I know it is nfg. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Go to google and type in "testing a bosch coil Porsche" You will mainly get PParts hits with many posts. Go to the posts and follow their recommendation as to testing your coil. You will need a digital voltmeter. Follow the instructions, it is easy. Good luck. Steve

Who told you the coil had died? The lady at the 7-11?
You saw spark but you want to check the coil? In situations like this, just after you perform a procedure, trace back to what you could have overlooked.
