915 to 915
Is there any reason that would preclude me from swapping internals from a magnesium case 915 into an aluminum case 915?
or What would be the things you do to the Mag. case 915 to help bullet proof it like side plate and single bearing retainer?

915 mag is an excellent box. I have one. Search, and you will find more info. You can search under my user name.
Wevo has a bearing retainer that can be installed, also, a more recent side cover can be installed. These upgrades may be a waste of money if you don't need them. I am not sure that a streetcar would need them. |

There are advantages to the mag case beside weight. It has a steel insert for the bearings, which the aluminum case lacks.
A one piece retainer and Carrera or HD side plate will be a good improvement. What motor are you using? I'm guessing that your trans has the 8:31 R&P? Which is considered stronger than the 7:31.

Back to the first question, could swap the internals from mag case to aluminum case?

There's also the issue of output flanges and which version of speedo drive you want to use. |
