911sc Exhaust Question
I am looking at replacing the original catalytic converter and muffler on my 1982 911sc as I believe the internals of both parts are rusted out and I want to make the vehicle quieter. I plan to replace both parts with OEM parts. My question is what is the factory specification in decibels for how loud the standard exhaust is? I want to see how much improvement I can expect from changing out these two parts. Also, if anyone has any feedback on making the 911sc quieter it would be much appreciated.

Going stock will make it as quite is it probably can be. I guess you can add more sound dampening to the interior if you want. How is your sound damping pads on the other side of the motor on the fire wall?

Make it quieter? Never heard of such a thing!!!
![]() j/k I have the factory Euro premuffler with a Flo-Pro muffler and love the sound it makes. Be sure to look at the Pelican classifieds as stock parts come up pretty often. If you want a stock muffler in great condition I have mine I would sell you.

Thanks for the info. I have recently installed a new sound pad on the firewall of the engine bay. My concern is mainly how loud it is to the outside world. Right now its decibel reading is 75-80 dbs from 10 -15 ft away from the tailpipe. I was hoping someone would know what the decibel reading was out of the factory so I can see how much improvement I will see when I replace the catalytic converter and muffler.
