Radar

Would some one give me a little advice here ,i have only had my 84 Carrera a few months, ex USA,really thrilled with the car.It has fitted under the dash small item,
has on it k40, audio, radar. sensitivity,on the front,i want to remove it,.Is it ok for me to
just cut wires and get rid of it,or have i got to remove other items that i can not see.

it depends on how much of it you want removed. iwould see if it has a plug on the back and just remove that and hide the wires.

the system probably has some sort of feed horn assymbly up front with some electronics in it.

to remove the wires you will just have to trace them out to see where it gets its power. if you want the wiring back to original looking solder any cut wires back together and use heat shrink over the connection.

Depending on who installed it there may be a "black box" in the engine compartment to remove as well and perhaps one up front...just follow the wires the piece showing is the control unit and will be hooked to power and the "black box" so there should only be two wires that lead into your cars wiring, positive and negative leads

If the system works I am not sure it will be of any benefit to keep it as it is outdated

if you can get it out intact with all the original wires and sensors you could sell it

While it is outdated remember it is "period correct" someone out there may want/need this

Mine came with the same unit under the dash on the drivers side. Kinda wish it worked, but I haven't tracked down the reason yet. Definitely period correct. I had one in an old BMW way back. It was great tech back then.
