911 Headlight conversion
Dear Friends
My car ( the yellow one) have this kind of headlight on it, and i would like to change them to this style ( the picture of the headlight only) Not being a Porsche guy i have no idea if it´s possible or what kind of parts will need to do this or where´s the best place to buy them? Also I hear a lot of H1 H4, what are the difference? Do i have H1 or H4, is the one i want H1 or H4? Can any one help me? Thanks ![]() ![]() ![]() |

ricardo -- your car has "sugar scoops" and you're wanting "H4" headlights (the h1 headlights look similar to the H4, are no longer available, use 2 vs 1 bulb and are more $$$) --
Our host, pelicanparts.com has you need for this for sale -- you'd need to buy the lights you picture and, if you want to cover the chrome ring with a body-colored ring, would need to buy the trim rings and extra screw set. You'll also need to buy a pair of h4 bulbs and should get a new pair of headlight gaskets -- while doing the job, you should also get a headlight relay -- our host sells a headlight relay kit from jwest that is an easy install. good luck! |

Hello,
Thanks for the help, I´m looking at pelicans, but still a little bit confusing, since there are a few choices that seems to work, but with a huge difference in price. Thanks again Ricardo |

The much lower priced H-4s are for the bulb reflectors and bulbs only, which are designed to fit into the sugar scoop assemblies that you want to replace.

Banned but not out, yet..

Search on Euro H4 headlight assembly. Unless you want to add relays, get the 55/60 watt bulbs. If you are not afraid of doing a little minor wiring, get the relay kit and higher wattage bulbs for superior light output.

you need two of these (the h4 assemblies you have pictured above): http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/smart/more_info.cgi?pn=911-631-113-00-OEM&catalog_description=&Headlamp%2520Assembly%2520%252D%2520Bosch%2520H%25 2D%2534%2520%2520%2520%253Cfont%2520style%253D%252 2font%252Dweight%253Anormal%2522%253E%2520%2528Eur opean%2520with%2520Chrome%2520Rim%2529%2520%2528wi thout%2520Bulbs%252C%2520Left%2520or%2520Right%252 9%2520%2520
you'll also need two of the h4 bulbs on this page -- (I use the 55/100watt bulbs) 1986 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa - Lights and Lenses - Page 3 Finally, get and install the headlight relay kit: Pelican Parts - Product Information: JWST-911-HLPR This is all you need to replace your sugarscoops with a pair of the h4 headlights pictured in your first post |
