Anyone have exp. w/ Collision One in Seattle / Northgate?

1 Attachment(s)
Had a WONDERFUL weekend -

My buddy / coworker was leaving work and popped the car in reverse - Steering wheel was cranked to the right and blamo - right into my door - Doesn't look too bad in the pics, but he put a nice sharp crease about 16" long.

Anyhow, anyone have good experiences w/ this shop? It's the one on 8th and Northgate, North Seattle (obviously) heard of the other shops but don't have the time to make it to Redmond or Lyn. and this shop is basically next door to work.

Feedback appreciated.

TIA

OUCH!

check out this thread

Red - You really are going to need some magic. . . I don't know if collision1 can provide.

thanks Island-

It's funny since the door and the RR quarter were shot less than 90 days ago. Bonus since it should be ez to match, and it's just plain old Guards Red.....I haven't even waxed the panel yet!

I would really like it if I didn't have to devote my only day off to chasing body shops. Collision one is nice and close. But if they're like a McBody Shop, then yes I'll go to Redmond.

Ouch. No experience with Collision One (nor heard of any either), but Queen City did a great job matching my 13 year old guards red paint when an old lady in her Corolla scraped the passenger side rear quarter last year. $$$ though.

since you had the door and the RR quarter shot less than 90 days ago, why not use the same people? It looks like they did a good job matching.

Collision 1 is a marketing group not a franchise all of their shops are independently owned, therefore quality will differ.

SouthTowne Auto Rebuild is the one of the highest quality shops I have seen in the aera.

Good Luck

It was done in Portland @ Kadels. Car was there before I got a hold of it. And yeah, it was a good job.

Looks like the search is on. I'll check out South Towne as well. I have an appointment to wrestle with the insurance co Tuesday. (Both of us have the same insurance co.)

thanks

How are they with insurance work? Did an insurance company pay or did someone pay out - of - pocket? Looks like Geico is issuing a check to the body shop.

Don't know if Queen City will handle claims directly. I'm covered through State Farm and they sent a check for the full amount of the repairs to me at my insistence. This was just just in case QC dragged their feet about completing the work if they were paid directly by the ins. co ahead of time (not saying that they would).

QC was pretty booked when I'd used them last year. It took 2 weeks before I was able to get in. No idea of the wait these days (probably less with the dot-com fallout).

I have had actual dealings with Collision 1 at Northgate. In all fairness, they can do a good job if you "stay on top of them" at least once of day, the downside is that most of the things they do the first time won't be right and will have to be reworked. I WOULD NOT TAKE MY PORSCHE TO THEM!!!!

If you want to stay on the west side, go to CENTERS 3 COLLISION in Lynwood, they are right along I-5 South. Here is a link: http://www.metromap.com/usa/wa/snohomish/s22274/autobodyreppaint.html

Contact info is:

Centers 3 Collision Center Inc

I worked with a guy named Dano, but its been 7 years so I don't know if he works their any longer. I was very happy with the work they did on my BMW, you couldn't tell that there any bodywork done on the car.

Good luck.

I understand Bernards in Seattle has a great Rep. Denny Akers recommended him to me a few years back.

Try DeGrazia's Body Shop at about 125th and Lake City Way.

URL is I have talked to him and he owns several Porsches and understands us. Recommended to me by John Walker.

He is very close to where you are looking now and so should not be a problem to find and use. No financial, etc., just thought he knew his s%$t about Porsches.

This work will cost you less if you strip the door panel. I would do that so that you know it goes back together the way you want.

Just call Degrazias -

Just what I wanted to hear, they know the car, and they like Geico quotes, and they have time this week. They do work with the Geico adjuster.

I'm off to get quotes to take in tommorow when I meet with the adjuster.

This shouldn't be a big deal, not like the car was in a heavy hit - Guess we'll see soon.

Degrazia seems to have fit the bill. Nice guys, and they get the car Tuesday. I've got confidence in their work and attention to detail. They gave me my ammo to bring to the adjuster. Also this is now an excuse to go crazy with new rubber seals everywhere. Tom (?) the owner I think has a 930 that used to be owned by my boss. Small world, and nobody I trust more with my car other than another 911 owner .:)

Thanks to everyone for the help.

Yes, Tom seems a nice guy. His car is is a Minerva Blue 930 coupe. Glad to hear this worked out.

Also the 79 in bamboo (2x 930's!)-

That's how I knew it was my bosses. Don't see that very often!..
