1968 911S high/low beams not working correctly
On a 1968 911S the headlight has 2 bulbs. A low beam and a high beam. I believe when you go to high beam both lights should be on but on this car the high comes on the low goes off. Can anyone confirm that they should both be on in the high position and if so what may be causing the problem. Thanks

I'm no expert, but I recall having a Euro years ago and the two bulbs came on when the lights were flashed, but only the higher watt bulb in the high beam position. Or I may just imagined the whole thing.

I believe the stock setup for the H1s is one bulb on at a time per housing, unless you hold the stick back in the "flash" position.
A set of $10 relays will allow you to reconfigure so that both stay on with the highs. They will also protect your headlight switch from melting (replacements are a couple hundred bucks) as well as provide more juice to the lights themselves. Here's what I came up with: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/824813-h1-relay-wiring-diagram-highs-lows.html |
wicht type do you have and can post a pict. 1968 euro S is 1 light bulb.

The headlights are H1. Does any out there have H1's and if so how do they work? Thanks

How do you want them to work? There are two bulbs, and the lens is glass, so they can both be lit without melting anything (besides the switch in the cabin).
It's a question of wiring. |
I would like to know how they worked when the car was new. Thanks
