More pic's - Tarmac Rally

Here are some pics of my car from this years Classic Adelaide Rally. Thanks to Matt H for resizing the images for me. The "Dukes of Hazard" moment was fun - but must remember to take foot off the gas next time (shift light was on for what seemed a long time). Oh, and the landing snapped off the front sway bar mount. These events are great fun but super punishing on cars. | ||

Thanks Adam - I have another front on shot from the rally which is a great pic, but can't work out how to get in under the 100k limit (its 144k).

If you send the pic to tintons@hotmail.com, I can send you back a resized pic close to 100k in no time. Anthony. Last edited by Tinton; 11-03-2002 at 04:33 PM..

Obrut, great photos. I appreciate if you don't wish to go into specific numbers, but what kind of money would I be looking at to compete in this level of competition? I know Targa Tasmania is too dear for my blood, but with a lot of places setting up Tourist Trophies or Historic speed events (Tweed Festival of Speed etc...) I figured these would be a lot more reasonable? I'd like to branch out from the local hillclimb Have you averaged out the general expense of this kind of competition?

Tinton - thx for fixing the last pic Fishcop - most events have similar entry costs (~ $4k). Then budget accomodation, getting you and the car to and from, fuel, tyres etc. For Adelaide, I shipped the car from Sydney ($600), flew myself ($600), spent ~$60/day in fuel, and, unfortunately, did about $1000 in damage. My car is not suitable for a Syd-Adel return drive. Three of us went thirds in bringing a mech along (without whom I would have not been able to finish). You should also start on a new or near new set of R spec tyres and brake pads. I haven't gone too far down the sponsorship route yet but most navigators will normally chip in for the chance of 4 or 5 days of a hot ride. My advice is start with events close to you so you can drive there and have your normal mech a phone call away to address any car issues. You might have no probs - I did a Bathurst based event last year and simply put fuel in every morning. Mark - car is RHD but there is 2 of us inside, me (driving) and my navigator (screaming). Doug - Thanks. The colour combo is accidental as I bought a blue car and then red wheels - then red everything else. Still don't like the blue much but its growing on me (if the paint wasn't so good I would paint it orange...). Red stripe is worth 1.5secs a lap...
