identify calipers

Hi guys,

recently picked up a set of used calipers online. Description was 911S calipers, off a 1969 911 used as a race car. Wanted to double check that that is what they are before I order a rebuild kit. They are one-piece, stamped ATE

Those are "late" model S-Calipers off a 73-76 car.

The rebuild kits are all the same

I would advise on getting them re-anodized as they are very valuable and can be rendered useless if they corrode much further. You will also need new pistons (almost guaranteed) and you'll find our friendly host has them in stock. Get the aluminum ones and you'll never have an issue with them again.

Hope it's okay to ask here, as it's not the marketplace forum, but you're not the first person to tell me these are quite valuable, any ballpark on value? My car isn't very original ('74 911S, mish-mash of parts) Am I better off selling these off and buying some boxster adapters etc. ?

these calipers were use on 74 911S if you have 3.5 bolt spacing .They are core 300.00 to 500.00 it piston condition and if they been use on track who knows.Rebuilt them 800.00.

I would definitely keep and refurbish those S calipers. For a dedicated track car maybe a Boxster upgrade could be justified. Do a search, this topic was just debated.

I read the recent thread, I was going to just buy boxster calipers, because I sort of messed up and forgot I had M calipers when I ordered new struts, so "forced upgrade". But I came across a really good deal on S calipers, so I'll likely stick with these and refurbish. Bought the pair for less than the core charge of a single.

We sell them for $1599.00 when they are totally refurbished. In that condition, I'd say they're worth around $500.00. Again, they will need new pistons and seals kits are kinda pricey.

I scored a set of these last year or the year before for only $90. They are on my shelf waiting to be sent to Mr. Eric Shea hopefully sometime this year.

BTW, these same calipers were used on the 1973 911RS and the 1976 911 Turbo (aka 930), so they were considered top of the line for the consumer cars. Oh, and Eric does such a nice job.

They are starting to clean up well! Ordered rebuild kit from the dealership today, should arrive thursday.

They do look better than suspected. Show us the pistons when you get them out.

Finished cleaning them and pulled the Pistons out, they don't look too bad, some corrosion on the face that contacts the pads, but that doesn't really affect anything. Sides look pretty good, so I think the rebuild kit should do it.

worth noting, they came out easy with compressed air, so that's good!

Hoping someone can confirm for me, the pad retainer kit my aluminum S calipers is 911-351-951-03, but it's listed as NLA.
Will the A caliper kit 911-351-951-00 work? difference is it uses lead spacers to hold the pins in instead of the cotter pins on the S caliper.
