Engine and VIN numbers decoded please?

1974 Convertible VIN# 9114110413
Engine code #6151372

Just trying to figure out a car that's for sale (really a pile of oxidized steel dust) that, remarkably, has a running engine. Was it really a convertible at birth?

Thanks

JJ 911SC 05-06-2015 04:20 PM

Definitely not a Cab as the first ones was in 1983.

The Car VIN/Engine # is for a G Series (1974) Targa: Aug 73 to Jul 74 fitted with911/97 Sporto,

Thanks JJ - Does the 911/97 mean sportomatic? This car is absolutely butchered. It literally has no structural integrity whatsoever; the targa roof was chopped off to make a cabri; there is no floor pan or floor for that matter. Open to the weather, wheels on the front seats. And yet it has an engine that is upgraded with the tensioners and whatnot, and it actually starts and runs. What do you think the value would be? I could salvage the wheels, instruments, and the motor.

Dude wants $10 K, but knows that is a b-s price. Any cash offer might do. I am going to try to post a pic of the motor

here is a picture of the enginehttps://www.mediafire.com/?e9b3cr8sgq3uqeo

Yes, 911/97 would be for the Sportomatic.

The Red Book did not list that engine # against VIN but Wayne's book did so I would take Wayne listing as oppose to the "not always right" Red Book.

A lot of Targa and some coupe got converted to Cabs.

Your engine photo does not show. If you can not fix it, send me a PM, and I'll post it for you.

thanks JJ - my 10 year old managed to get it posted in the marketplace section under "bucket of dust"

JJ 911SC 05-06-2015 05:23 PM

LMFT4U... With a running engine, 5K could be profitable.
