915 clutch mystery
Just put new clutch kit with release bearing. I have done many over the years, but this time when I push clutch pedal it slows down my motor to a stall. Motor runs fine at idle and revs fine. Has any one had this problem? HELP!

It comes back out and then you will be able to figure out why.

I know on a G50 that if you put the clutch disc on the wrong way, it will catch on the guide tube and lock. Not sure if this can happen with a 915. Hopefully, better minds than mine will chime in.

Before you drop again. Have a helper press the clutch as you feel the top of the fork and release bearing via the inspection hole on top of the gear box to see if it moves fore and aft.

I did use a camera threw view hole and saw top of fork and bearing move front to back. Have not tried it with motor running to see if bearing is spinning. Trying that next.

The cone faces away from the engine, so it does face forward of the car

well just looked with camera and disc is facing foward. I could tell by the rivits on disc. they are covered up by disc. If it was backwards the rivits would be in clear view.

this is a pic of release bearing on guide tube. Whats the distance from bearing to bottom of guide tube? I felt with my finger and it feels about 5/8 in. Clutch engages about half of that.

Well, what was the problem, and the fix?
It would be nice to know so that the next guy can benefit from all the help. You will not be the only one to ever have this problem...

Great looking motor.
I guessing he was pressing on the brake, not the clutch. Until he tells us, that's my guess.
