THE balljoint nut socket

These show up on eBay now and then and they are indestructible!

You can use an impact gun with this tool to remove the nut unlike others. Best $60 you will spend.

No affiliation, just pointing out a great tool!

I am going to try this soon.
I've seen others posted for $12 and $20.

Does this one for $12 work just the same?

Or this for $20?

I could not use it for disassembly (the front rack was on my bench) but had more success during reassembly when the rack on the car and a jack underneath to add upward pressure. Still not the ideal tool because it is only approximately the size you need.

That eBay tool is the same one our host sells for $55. Our hosts is a quality tool. Worked perfect for me using the "jack for pressure" method. I actually borrowed from a forum member so just a little shipping cost and beer money.

Don't get the junk >$20 chinesium version, will do more harm than good. The Porsche specialty tool for the job costs ~$55 if I remember correctly, and is beautiful. I used it for both dis-assembly and reassembly using the jack method.
