Wheel spacers - what size wheel stud

Any help here would be greatly appreciated. I have 1983 SC Coupe with 16 X 7 on the rears. Looking to add 17MM wheel spacers. Does anyone know what size wheel studs to use? I am using closed lug nuts and the wheels are factory Fuchs. Thank you.

I'm not sure what is standard on an 83, but for my '73 it is a 45mm stud. I added 14mm spacers and used a 60mm stud. (45+14=59) They were difficult to find. Finally got them in jolly old England. Be prepared to roll your fenders.

Standard length on an SC is 45mm also. Add 17mm and you're at 62. 66mm is available but may be too long for you.

Studs

The factory Verbus studs in the 66mm length should be the best. These were used with the factory 21mm spacers. Check my post using the key words: "spacers and long studs"

66mm is about the max you can install without doing major disassembly of the rear hub. If you remove just the caliper, disc and the parking brake adjuster you can just sneak the 66m studs into place. I have 14mm spacers and the studs are a bit too long to use with the factory aluminum nuts on Fuchs wheels. I use open steel lugnuts as they are more durable anyway. I doubt that you will have fender clearance issues unless the rear height is set very low.
