930S Wheel and Porsche Crest
Ok I got the wheel and the crest yesterday. I see the crest has like a 1/2" long pin on the back of it. Now my question, what method have you guys used to attach the crest to the horn pad? Did you drill a hole and push the crest in by the pin or did you cut the pin off and glue the crest to the horn pad? Inquiring minds want to know!

Come on, I know somebody on here has the answers I need!!!!
|
Kurt--
sorry, can't answer definitively, as mine came with the crest already attached. I seem to recall a thread saying the crest attaches with a speed nut (like the hood emblem). hope this helps |
I'm in the same boat - got mine yesterday.
|
Seem to recall from the original thread Wayne saying that Pelican was going to do a Tech article on installing the crest and the wheel..
|
Installed my wheel and the crest is still in its little baggy waiting for me to figure it out. There is a tech article already about installing the wheel, but does not say anything about the crest install. I am sure I will afix the crest someday soon, but for now I am liking the wheel without it. Maybe a good leather/saddle shop could emboss the Porsche crest in the horn pad? Hey we must be the 4 lucky winners ( Halm, Kurt V, widebody911)of the email response contest!;)

Did this question ever get answered? I have the same issue. Thanks, |
I am not sure, but I seem to recall it saying somewhere to drill it. However, how do you drill through the leater without a problem. I was just about to order mine when this cooler issue came up, (Got it lined up for my birthday from the wife though;) )
|
Same problem, I got ahold of sam @ pelican and he is sending me the keeper that goes with the crest. My problem is the horn, It wont shut-up:(
|
Got the horn fixed and recieved the keeper for the crest. The only problem is that the stud is not long enough. I drilled a hole same size as the stud added a drop of silicon done deal
|
I am still waiting for my wheel and crest, but I would like to have the answer before I begin installing mine.
Thanks Kevin |
you can use a speed nut (it is the same as the ones that hold your emblems on the hood and trunk)
or use a tiny bit of adhesive and yes you do drill a hole If I were going to use adhesive, Id just dremel the pin off and glue it on MJ |
I looked like the pin was not long enough so I just used a little silicone and stuck that sucker on.
|
You need to drill a hole, and stick it on there. I am going to do a tech article, but I've been a bit busy lately with other things on the site...
If someone wants to volunteer to write a tech article, I would take that as a nice thank you for offering these wheels at such a great price! :) -Wayne |
