Is my matching transmission number wrong?
I started looking at my engine and transmission numbers (always thinking they were matching) and seemed to find a discrepancy. I have a 70T and my engine number is listed as such. But my trans is a 911/01. That seems to be for the 70/71 S/E (only those two years). I believe it should be 911/00 or 905/20 if sportomatic. Is this correct and what is the difference between 911/01 and 911/00? Was it possible for them to install a 911/01 on a T model?

Looking at the PET, for a 1970T it looks like 911.01 is correct for a 5 speed. Perhaps applies to ROW cars??

Thats interesting 93nav. I thought mine was a USA version because it was delivered to Philadelphia but maybe not. Appreciate the info. I dropped Marc at Porsche a email and asked him the same question. Hope he answers.

911.00 was the standard 4 Spd. Many 70Ts, especially in America were ordered with the optional 5spd, the 911.01. Your gearbox is correct if your car was a 5spd from the factory.

Matt looking at 93nav's PET that makes sense. I was getting my facts from the back of a Stoddard reference catalog. Ha Thanks for the explanation.
