Requesting help ID'ing Porsche brake calipers
Greetings all. This is my first post here, so thanks in advance for helping a newbie. I have a '97 BMW E36 M3. Some years ago, the prior owner upgraded to Porsche/Brembo brake calipers. The time has come to replace the pads, and I'm struggling to identify which car these calipers were originally spec'd to, and hence which pads to order. I "thought" that these were from a 996 Carrera, but the Hawk HPS pads spec'd by Tirerack for that car do not match the Textar pads which are currently in the car, and I can't seem to cross-reference the Textar pad part number to a comparable Hawk HPS pad (I've already got Hawk's on the rear, so would like to have a matching compound on the front, hence why I'm not just buying a new set of Textars.)
I'm hoping that by looking at these images someone well versed might be able to help me identify exactly which car these originally came on. Total height of the caliper from top to bottom is 292mm. The square-ish opening where the pads are inserted is 135 x 71mm. Mounting bolt spacing is 135mm, center to center. The only marking I could find on the caliper was a small "S" stamped just below the brake pad retaining spring. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks. Tom ![]()
