Maybe you and "Brian993" should talk. He has a newer 911 (ie:993) and is selling it for and older 911. You are looking for a more reliable car, voila :)

I can sympathize with you...I'm in the internet music biz and things were dicey there for a while and I had the same thoughts. One thing I am STILL looking into is Mitubishi's no payments till 2004 deal on a Montero Sport (and other models). This allows me to have something to drive with NO payments and sell my car at leisure, or just keep it if thing look better in a year. Option 2 is to find who got my 88 BMW 535i that I sold 3 years ago to get a 911. That car had 187,000 miles and the tranny had to be rebuilt ($1200) at about 135,000 miles. Other than that basically just wear out items. In fact the tranny problems turned out to be a worn WIRE in the shift handle!!! That car is destined to be a classic. Even if you sell your car you can always find another one when things are better.

Yea, didn't get the moving into California part the first time around. You'll never pass emissions. Sell the SC and find something out there.

I've got (3) kids, ages 2,4,&6, just moved to a new home with a 3rd car garage for the Porsche, and am definetely feeling the pinch of that "extra toy". I have a truck for use daily and I am selling the Porsche this Sat. I am also taking a beating on price, but when it's behind me I believe I'll feel better. I know this sounds rediculous, but, in the social/business circle of today, unless you just have cash flowing out your ears, driving a toy car is a little obnoxious in many people's view. My problem was more financially related, but my choice was to go out and get one of these 0% deals on a Dodge Durango and live comfortably for a little while. I can always buy another Porsche, in fact, I look forward to the future fun I will have locating one! Don't sweat it right now, it ain't worth it! Have fun with your kids and do what i did...TAKE ONE FOR THE TEAM!!! I'm hoping my wife will appreciate it and when the time is right, turn me loose in Porsche country with a better attitude and a larger budget! Good luck

You know, their is an old saying that pretains to boats, "the best days are when you buy it and when you sell it". Perhaps this should be true for Porsches.

I believe this may hold true in your situation. From my perspective, your family comes first and therefore, the toys come second! So, if you truely feel that having a decent car to get folks around to conduct doing business is necessary, which equates in the end to benefitting the family, then the P-car becomes nothing but secondary. I went through the same situation and believe me it was not a painful experience in retrospect. In fact by selling it and keeping the promise to myself of purchasing another, provided quite a motivation, monetarily speaking. Within a few years I was in my '79SC. It worked out just fine.

If on the other hand you can get by with an older but clean vehicle that is affordable and will satisfy your transportation requirements, keep the P-car.

It seems like you have only two choices, sell it or store it.
