Hi Guys,
I just had the DME relay changed on my '87 Carerrera BC it wasn't starting. A week later and it's not starting again. Trying to trouble shoot myself but I'm a 0/10 mechanically but easy to teach. It's turning over strong but no boom. How do I check the plugs or take them off? I can look for spark and guess it's a fuel issue or find gas and it's a spark issue? Pls advise. My manual doesn't show detailed pets in engine on a diagram.

This should get you through a little bit of the process.

Pay close attention to the section about checking the CD Box, listening for the whine is a quick easy step, and can cause your issue.

Get yourself a fuel pressure gauge, and a spark checker.

Spark checker: Pull the plug wire from the easiest accessible plug. Find/get a spare plug and put on the plug wire. Rest the base of the plug/wire against some metal ground. Have someone crank the motor and look for a nice bright blue spark.

Bad new DME relay?
Bell curve failure rate is pretty high on the URO brand. Pay the extra for OEM ...

Do you have a Harbor Freight close by? Pick up a fuel pressure kit and a Noid light kit. You might want to pick up a Volt Ohm Meter too.
I would also pick up a Bentley Book. It has a nice troubleshooting section. Shows how to bypass the DME relay to check the fuel pump as well as tests for ground, voltages and sensors.

I find that testing spark is a first step. I keep an inductive spark testor, like this one www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0002STS3U/awh?tag=viglink20245-20, is my old cars. It will let you know if the plus(s) is/are firing.
