87 covertable top will not retract
my 87 convertible top will not retract after the front motors unlatch. The motor is runing. It just seems like something is not engaging .

Which motor is running? The latch motors in the top or the drive gear motor in the back?

does it move backwards at all?
Seems like the most likely scenario is that someone loosened the bolts that engage the side transmission assemblies to the top. That can be done when people want to run in manual mode, or there is an alignment problem. Was this ever working? Does the top move freely once the front is unlatched from the top of the windshield?
