Question: When replacing the rubber seal between bumper and rear valance, any sealant

I'm replacing the worn out seal that is on the rear valence under the bumper. Does this seal require any type of sealant to keep it in place or just the screws?

I'm asking because my old one came right off and after cleaning the valance, it looks like there may have been some type of sealant or weather stripping adhesive there but the seal pulled right off. I'm only replacing because my old one was not holding in place near the muffler and I don't want that to recur.

Thanks in advance.

I would suggest an adhesive to keep it in place.

Thanks! Do you think the 3m black weather strip will work? I just want to make sure I use something that won't be gooey it's whole life.

Probably. That stuff sets up pretty well. You might look at the 3M site to check temperature ratings on their various similar products.

I just assembled mine about 2 months ago, no sealant used. None on any of the other valance to fender junction strips so that was my cue. Its a heavy piece of rubber and mine gets pinched nicely so seems very secure. You certainly don't need or want it "sealed". If you need to remove it later, much easier bare.
