I am having issues losing power for a second while driving my 1977 911S. It also died for the first time after idling for a few seconds from a cold start. I replaced the coil with an Accel Universal SuperStock Coil to no effect it still hesitates periodically while driving. Is this an okay coil to put on my car? I don't know what a CD box is, and I saw somewhere not to use a conventional coil. Confused. Thank you for your help!

The CD Box is a voltage amplifier used in the ignition system. I am not familiar with the ACCEL brand coil. The ignition coil you choose needs to be rated for 40,000 volts or more. http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/SuperCat/0787/POR_0787_ELIGNT_pg3.htm
Take a look here and purchase one of these if you think you have a bad coil. If not rated for 40,000 volts that coil may burn out your CD Box! Remember to check the basics first, spark plugs, distributor cap, points, fuel filter, fuel pump relay, etc. Check out these articles for more information: http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/rice_ramblings/rice_ramblings-3.htm ] http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/rice_ramblings/rice_ramblings-3.htm [/url] http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/911_static_timing/911_static_timing.htm http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/mult_MSD_install/mult_MSD_install.htm I would also recommend picking up a copy of 101 Projects for your Porsche 911, in that book you will find the answers to many questions that you will have once you work on your 911. http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/ksearch/pel_search_2014.cgi?SUPERCAT_FLAG=Y&make=POR&Context_make=&please_wait=N&LastVisited_input=&Previous_Section=&forumid=&threadid=&command=DWsearch&description=101+projects+for+your+Porsche+911&I1.x=0&I1.y=0&FILTER_997M=ON&FILTER_911E=ON&FILTER_911M=ON&FILTER_911L=ON The book is only $22, and it WILL PAY FOR ITSELF during your first do it yourself project!! - Casey |
