Stock sc • install heavy duty or sport strut inserts and shocks ?
Just looking at replacing my stock bilsteins on my 1980 sc targa ... Just a mellow street car. Should I buy the heavy duty or sport units from our host? Thanks

I've always thought the sports and HD's were pretty much the same.
Sports are great, if you match them with turbo-tie rod ends, sport engine trans mounts and a suitable ride height. I have run sports with 16"s with 55/50 tires and 15"s with 75 aspect tires. The 15"s take away much of the sport harshness. If it's a 'mellow cruiser' I would go with standard bilstiens....you can always have them revalved to sport settings if you find them too soft.

Others with more expertise may want to chime in, but I question installing Sport dampers without uprating/matching the torsionbars.

I did new HDs in my mellow 82 street car and it's plenty sporty. Keep your old inserts and have them revolved then you get the best of both worlds?
